Time Management Report

Over the semester, I have tried to utilize several different time management techniques. One of the strategies I attempted to use was writing down all of my assignments in a planner and everything else that I needed to do. This worked well to help me remember what I needed to get done, however I got lazy and stopped writing down what I needed to get done, so I would often forget to do assignments and such. I believe that this technique would have worked well if I stuck with it, though. I also started to write down everything that I needed to do and get done on a calendar, but I never ended up completing it. I believe it would have been very useful if I completed it, though. Another thing I did was planning out when I would get my assignments done, so I wouldn’t end up having to do a bunch at one time before they were due. This helped a lot so I wasn’t overloaded with assignments to do. I also prioritized my assignments. I would get my assignments done that were the most challenging and took the most time to do first, and do my other assignments that weren’t as challenging later. I found this technique to be very effective since it’s better to get the harder assignments out of the way so you don’t have to feel stressed later about not having enough time to get them done, and then once you finish the harder assignments you can easily get the easier assignments finished. Also, I try to get my assignments done ahead of time if possible, so I can get other things done and have more free time later. However, I didn’t always stick to using these techniques all throughout the semester. I would still frequently put assignments off, procrastinate, and just waste my time doing nothing because I felt lazy. I had a hard time fitting in everything I needed to get done throughout the day because I would procrastinate and put off doing things that I needed to get done. So I would also frequently have to stay up late at night trying to get all of my assignments done. So, throughout the whole semester I haven’t gotten much sleep at all, which has led to more problems. Because I wouldn’t get much sleep at night, I would be so exhausted throughout the day that I would be too tired to do anything, so I wouldn’t get my assignments done or do other things that I needed to get done because of that. I also end up being so tired in class that I can’t focus at all, and I would be fighting to not fall asleep in class. This is something that I definitely need to change next semester. I will try hard to stick to using all of my time management techniques that have worked for me, and I will try really hard to avoid procrastinating and putting things off, so I can have enough time to get a good night of sleep so I can be well rested for the next day. I also want to effectively utilize time management skills so I can have more free time to do other things that I enjoy such as hanging out with my friends which I haven’t had much time to do at all this semester.
